After Dark

On nights, like tonight, when I work until closing time, I don't get home until about 1:00 a.m.

I come home to:
dirty dishes
unfinished chores
a hungry kitty
a sleeping husband
a puppy who eagerly laps my face

First, I tiptoe into the bedroom to kiss my sleeping husband right smack on the forehead, then the lips.

Next, I take the puppy outside to do what he needs to do.

Outside I:
soak up the silence
smile at the sparkling frost
bask in the light of the nearly full moon

After tucking the puppy into bed, I am still full of energy.

This early, early morning I:
put away dishes
washed dishes
folded all three loads of clean laundry
made husband's lunch
cleaned kitty's box

Lately, all my energy comes out to play after dark.

Time

I need to leave for work in 14 minutes and I still haven't put make-up on, done the dishes, made the bed, or folded the two bags of clean laundry that I washed on Saturday afternoon.

Ever feel behind?

I have, however, worked on my memoir, researched for a paper I am working on, read NieNie and CJane, walked the dog, played ball with the dog, had dinner, talked to my mother-in-law, and updated my Amazon Christmas wish list.

Priorities, mine are ever changing and sometimes misplaced.

What about you?

Playing Catch Up

So, I've been away a few days due to end of semester work and Teen Voices internship stuff. I'm overwhelmed. I'm tired. I am totally feeling the pollen attack that is spring in New England.

I can't wait to get on the plane to San Francisco. May 10th can't come soon enough.

Today my dear friend Irma came over. We cleaned my kitchen, made Amish Friendship Bread, ate the bread and drank some tea, and took a walk to and from the post office.
We literally stopped and smelled the flowers on the trees. It was refreshing. How I love girl time.

Hope you all had a Happy Friday!

Dynamic Duo

By Wendy Whitacre - Blue Lily

I have been a fan of Wendy, the one woman show at Blue Lily, for some time now. She just announced that her husband will now be working with her.

By Tyler Whitacre - Blue Lily

How cool is that?!?!?!

I wonder if Mr. B&B and I could ever do that, work so closely day after day... I think we would both have to work harder on our patience... which we should probably do anyway...me especially...

Do you think you could work with your husband? Do you? I am fascinated.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing more incredible work from the dynamic duo of Wendy and Tyler of Blue Lily!

View from Here

With the husband home sick and the Liz Funk interview I could work on transcribing and editing from home, I decided not to go in to Teen Voices today. I opted to work at my desk with my sleeping husband in the next room.

The view from my desk. Note the fresh squeezed, homemade lemonade.

Work From Home

With all the crazy snow, Mr. B&B will be working from home today. Side by side in the office we will toil together which will either be motivating or completely distracting. It will be nice to have him home, but I do have a routine and it bugs me a bit to have it messed with. Selfish, I know and I can't believe I'm feeling it.

Mondays and Fridays are my "Work from Home" days. Fridays are the days when I get the big house chores done like laundry and sweeping and dusting in addition to the normal light housework. When those things are done, it is homework time. Mondays are the normal light housework like bed-making and dishes before sitting down to homework with near zero distractions all day. This particular Monday I have one paper that needs to be completed and two papers that need editing before I can turn them in tomorrow and Wednesday. That makes today an intense homework day. I just hope Mr. B&B is more of a motivator than a distraction.

Wait a minute... I think Mr. BandB feels the same way about me. He just asked me where I will be working today. "Why?" I asked. "Because if you are working in the office, I will find another place to work." Too funny...
